Bosses at Salford builder Domis Construction, which is celebrating its fifth anniversary, are targeting future organic growth after a “pretty phenomenal” period for the firm.
Domis launched in 2017 and is a partner to property development company Salboy, bringing forward all its big projects and working with other developers now too.
Speaking to Insider, managing director Lee McCarren and director Kingsley Thornton, reflected on a successful five years for Domis.
“We're proud and when we reflect on five years and evaluate what we've achieved, it's pretty phenomenal,” said McCarren and Thornton.
“We set objectives five years ago to be different and disrupt the market and we feel we've done that.”
The pair both said Domis had set out a “really strong vision and business plan”.
“It was built on being honest,” they said.
“We wanted to disrupt the market in a positive way and give clients what they deserve out of construction”.
Domis's partners include Salboy, Betfred, Aberla, JMA, Wright Landscapes, Mayo Civil Engineering and Cowgills among others.
Projects Domis is working on include construction of a 25-storey residential tower Manchester's Piccadilly Central.
The joint venture between Salboy and Forshaw Land and Property will provide 177 one, two and three-bedroom properties at the heart of the neighbourhood. It will act as the gateway to a public square and boulevard leading to the new HS2 station as part of the Portugal Street East masterplan. Site preparation for Victoria House is also complete.
Another is The Anchorage Gateway development, situated as an apex of Salford Quays and Media City UK. The ground floor will consist of 4,000 sq ft of commercial space, topped with 290 residential units and 8,500 sq ft of amenities.
Domis is also working on 600-home project Castle Irwell in Salford. In December 2021, it installed two tower cranes to bring forward the next phases at Salboy's Castle Irwell Urban Village in Salford.
However, it has also broadened its horizons away from the North West and is involved in projects in Kensington and Chelsea and in Sheffield.
“We want to be the go to contractor for many developments in Manchester and elsewhere,” said McCarren and Thornton.
“We're in a unique position to achieve this and have the phone ringing every day with new clients.”
Looking ahead the pair are both targeting future growth and continued success for Domis.
They added: “Organic growth is key for us and we want to continue to delivering a great service.”
