"Vegan still barely known in fresh fruit and vegetables, but has huge potential" – FreshPlaza.com

TOFF is a Dutch company that has expanded its activities with a new concept: Green Vegan. “Under that name, we offer fully vegan, organic fresh fruit and vegetable products,” says Jeffrey Moret. Green Vegan is an official distributor for certified Biocyclic Vegan products. They serve the Netherlands, Belgium, UK, Scandinavia, and Germany.
So, are all organic fruit and vegetables not vegan? “No, not at all. Biocyclic Vegan farming is purely plant-based and organic. This form of cultivation doesn’t use production animals or animal fertilizers. It also stresses the promotion of biodiversity and healthy soil life. As well as humus accumulation and maximum closure of organic cycles.”
Green Vegan is affiliated with the Biocyclic Vegan network. All the products Green Vegan distributes through B2B channels are Biocyclic Vegan certified. In the Netherlands, they work with Joost van Strien, amongst others.
He is the first Biocylic Vegan certificated grower in that country. They market products under the ‘No Shit’ brand name. He cultivates his vegetables using 100% plant-based methods.

“Vegan farming has massive potential. We make good use of crop rotation and green fertilizers – all plant-based, no animal manure. By doing so, it seems we can achieve just as good a harvest as with organic farming. If sustainability is the true goal, No Shit is the future,” says Joost.
The Biocyclic Vegan Standard has been available worldwide since November 2017. It is a global vegetarian (vegan) and organic farming standard. The IFOAM Family of Standards accredits that standard.
“The current range and volume of certified vegan fresh products are continually expanding. At present, there are several Dutch, German, and Greek growers who are certified to this standard. Vegan products in the supermarket are steadily growing and becoming more popular,” explains Jeffrey.
“These are, however, hardly known in the fresh fruit and vegetable world. People are quick to think that fruit and vegetables – certainly organic fruit and vegetables – are already vegan. But that’s, of course, not the case. At least not entirely.”
He is confident about sales. “There are already talks underway with retailers and store owners. They’re interested in Bio Vegan fresh products. For an increasing number of consumers, organic is no longer enough. Retailers and businesses who want more information or are interested in Bio Vegan fresh products are welcome to contact us,” Jeffrey concludes.
