Trinidad throws wide its doors this Saturday, then next Sunday for a celebration of the season – Mad River Union

TRINIDAD – The spirit of the holidays is evident in Trinidad as the coastal community comes together to celebrate the season with events planned for two days, on Saturday, Dec. 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Sunday, Dec. 12 from 6 to 10 p.m.
Many businesses are sponsoring the event organized by the Trinidad Civic Club as a benefit for the Memorial Lighthouse Project.
Additionally, on Dec. 4, crafters and vendors will participate in the Trinidad Flea Art, recently organized by Penny Gunn open on the first Saturday of every month (except January) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Food items will be sold from the kitchen and live music performed.
The Civic Club will present a Christmas Boutique featuring jewelry and Lighthouse memorabilia, with additional items appropriate for gifting or decorating, all proceeds benefiting the Lighthouse Fund.
The 150th Anniversary of the Trinidad Head Lighthouse, 1871 – 1921 is also being celebrated on the 4th with walks from Light to Light (Memorial Lighthouse to Head Lighthouse) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Living History Performances will be enacted from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Bureau of Land Management and its California Coastal National Monument partners, including Trinidad Museum, the Trinidad Rancheria and the Trinidad Coastal Land Trust are sponsoring this special observance.
Santa will visit Trinidad in his rolling boat on Dec. 12 at 6 p.m. with a flotilla of lighted fishing boats, preceded by the exuberant, marching Bandemonium, led by Gregg Moore.
Santa and his elves will briefly stop in Murphy’s parking lot to hand out candy canes. Street parking along the route is recommended for viewing from the Harbor to Murphy’s Market, along Edwards, Trinity and Main, returning along View (no parking), East, Ocean and Edwards.
Santa’s Soup and Salad Supper will follow Santa’s Lighted Boat Parade in the Trinidad Town Hall, serving from 7 to 8:30 p.m, featuring clam chowder donated by the Seascape Restaurant, hearty vegetable soup from the Lighthouse Grill, with bread and salad—beverages and desserts baked by Civic Club members will be sold separately.
The Tidepool High Divers will play dance music from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Adults: $15, 10 & Under: $10. The event benefits the Lighthouse Fund.
The Trinidad Art Gallery is filled with original art from Humboldt’s finest artists, open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 4, with extended hours on Dec.12 from 4 to 7 p.m. for a book signing by member Maureen McGarry, who wrote and illustrated the children’s book, Louie Learns a Lesson, the story of local migrating geese.
The Land Trust will be open on Dec. 4 from 3 to 5 p.m. for their annual meeting and open house. Visit the gallery featuring Nightscape and Astrophotography by Jennifer Peterson

The Trinidad Museum will be open on Dec. 4 and the Dec. 12 from 12:30 to 4 p.m.

The Seascape Restaurant and Santa’s Workshop Gifts near the boat launch will be open. The Eatery & Gallery open on Dec. 4 only.
