Videos
About 30 farmers of Nayal village in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand have converted about 12 hectares of land into a tea garden. This year about 8,000 kg of tea has been produced in the village. While tea produced here is also exported to countries like UK and UAE, many people in Pithoragarh and nearby areas too visit the village to buy tea. In 2018, local farmers approached the Tea Board of India and formed a cooperative to cultivate and process tea. While over 30 farmers are part of the cooperative, the tea garden along with the manufacturing unit also employs 18 workers.
