Tapioca-based energy drink launches nationwide – Food Business News

MIAMI — An organic energy beverage featuring tapioca is launching nationwide. OCA and its new prickly pear lime flavor will be available at more than 2,000 Kroger stores across the country and online through Kroger.com and vitacost.com.
Developed by global beverage company Beliv in collaboration with Magnus Media, the media venture of Grammy Award winning musician Marc Anthony, OCA is formulated with sparkling water, organic tapioca syrup, organic agave syrup, organic gum acacia, organic citric acid, natural flavor, organic caffeine from green coffee and organic stevia. Flavors include mango, guava passionfruit and berry acai.
Tapioca, or cassava root extract, provides sustained energy without a crash or jitters, according to the company.
“Our goal is to develop cutting-edge beverages,” said Carlos Sluman, chief executive officer of Beliv. “When we forged this alliance, we knew that Magnus was the perfect complementary team, not only to make a difference in the beverage industry, but to offer refreshing, exciting and tasteful products to all consumers seeking an authentic brand experience in the world of health and wellness.”
The brand last year participated in Southern California accelerator Critical Mass Group to expand its footprint in specialty stores and supermarkets throughout the United States. The partnership with Kroger grows OCA’s presence in major cities including Atlanta; Charlotte, NC; Cincinnati; Dallas; Denver; Houston; Indianapolis; Los Angeles; Memphis, Tenn.; Nashville, Tenn.; New York; Phoenix; Portland, Ore.; Seattle and more.
