AUDA to let farmers sell organic vegetables, fruits on its plots – Ahmedabad Mirror

The Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority has planned to set up weekend organic markets, giving farmers engaged in organic farming in villages around Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar free plots to sell vegetables and fruits on Saturdays and Sundays.
AUDA has passed a resolution and informed the development officers of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar through a letter.
The decision will help organic vegetable and fruit farmers to sell their produce directly to the consumers. This will let farmers get a good price for their produce and people will get organic vegetables at fair prices.
The farmers will be able to sell their produce on Saturdays and Sunday on plots to set up a market. Five plots have been selected in different areas of Ahmedabad for the purpose.
AUDA estate officer Ramesh Desai told Mirror, “AUDA has decided to encourage organic farming and have decided to give free plots for sale of their produce.”
